America's First Dog Cafe to Open
We are over the moon excited for our client The Dog Cafe on their grand opening - and America's very first Dog Cafe. The grand opening will take place on April 7th and run through April 14th at their location 240 N. Virgil Avenue, Unit 13, Los Angeles.
It was amazing to have worked with Sarah, the owner, first discussing her leasing needs and advising on the Los Angeles retail market. It wasn't an easy use being creative and bridging two different types of property requirements - both retail and industrial, because of the dog and cafe element. However, having a soft spot for rescue animals having rescued two huskies myself, I was up for the challenge and really believed in Sarah's dream. I mean who wouldn't want coffee and play with cute dogs?
We toured many different markets from the San Fernando Valley, to Downtown Los Angeles, and finally made our way to Silver Lake. Each market came with its pros and cons, different rental pricing and zoning requirements. We went through each one and selected a location that offered a lot of pros. Even though there was some maneuvering needed with the City of Los Angeles, the price was right, offered good visibility, located on a major thoroughfare, and had ample parking. And now you will be able to drink a cup of coffee or tea and play with some wonderful dogs who are available for adoption. What a great way to spread the joy of adopting dogs by being able to play and interact with them in a warm and friendly environment.
As Sarah put it to LA Weekly, which full article can be seen here, "'We want to provide a second chance for shelter dogs that are often overlooked. The Dog Cafe is going to put a spin on the way people adopt by totally reinventing the way we connect with homeless dogs.'"
Be sure to visit Sarah, Sharkie (resident mascot), and all the available dogs up for adoption. Maybe you will find a new best friend? Or visit to just play with the dogs and enjoy a hot beverage. Coffee served is from Grounds and Hounds, which donates 20% of its proceeds to rescue groups.
